Planning Commission Meetings which are held the first Wednesday of each month have changed to 6:30 p.m. effective June 3, 2015.
Planning and Zoning activities in Millard County are the direct responsibility of the Millard County Planning Commission. Membership of this commission is taken from county citizens that have shown an interest in helping to shape the future of this great county. Seven of these members are selected from various locations in the county and are appointed to three year terms. A chair person is selected by the group to set the agenda and conduct the monthly meetings and other business as required. One of the major responsibilities of the Planning Commission is to set in place and maintain a General Plan for Millard County. This plan is a grass roots document that is the result of many public meetings where the county citizens express their feelings on such things as growth, industry, agriculture, recreation, tourism, infrastructure, and more. These comments are then categorized and become the goals and policies of the county. Using these goals and policies, the Planning Commission creates a plan of action to implement these goals and policies, and that becomes the General Plan of Millard County.
From there, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Millard County Commissioners develop the Millard County Zoning Ordinance (Land Use Plan).
